Discover the Transformative Power of Sound Therapy in Leeds

Updated: Nov 3

Hi there! My name is Mark, and I have been in recovery from alcohol addiction for 14 years as of this writing. My journey has led me to explore various healing modalities, including sound therapy, which has profoundly impacted my life.

My Experience with Sound Therapy

Over the past 15 years, I have attended numerous sound baths, gong baths, and musical immersions. However, nothing has excited me quite like Craig Eddington's sound immersion from The Sound Therapy Company.

Upon arriving at the venue in South Leeds, I was warmly welcomed by Craig. His genuine passion radiated through his percussion playing. As I lay on the floor, covered with a blanket, I joined in the breath-work that prepared us for the sound bath.

My usual fidgety nature vanished as soon as the first gong note resonated. I could hear barking dogs outside as the frequencies rose, yet my body felt warm and grounded. The notes seemed to split, sending resonant frequencies surging through my mind. It was a surreal experience, almost as if I was witnessing two separate timelines emerging.

I felt these frequencies not only in my mind but also in the space around me. It might sound strange, but it felt incredibly good!

Inspired by this experience, I approached Craig with an idea. "Let's do a Kundalini Yoga and Sound Bath together," I suggested. He readily agreed, and we set a date for the new moon in October 2025.

Upcoming Event: Kundalini Yoga and Sound Bath

On October 21st at The Old Stables in Adel, LS16 8DW, I will lead a 30-minute mixed (male and female) Kundalini Yoga warm-up at a beginner's level. This will be followed by an hour of sound therapy with Craig. I may even join in a bit!

I have compiled the benefits of sound therapy below, supported by links to studies that provide evidence of its effectiveness.

Out of everything I have done for myself and my recovery over the last 14 years, Kundalini Yoga and Sound has had the biggest lasting impact on my mental and physical health.

Benefits of Sound Therapy

1. Stress Reduction

Sound therapy can help lower stress levels by promoting relaxation and calming the mind. Soothing sounds can reduce cortisol levels and enhance overall well-being.

2. Improved Sleep Quality

Listening to calming sounds or music can aid in falling asleep faster and improving sleep quality. Sound therapy can help regulate sleep patterns and reduce insomnia.

3. Enhanced Focus and Concentration

Background sounds, such as white noise or nature sounds, can improve focus and concentration. They mask distracting noises and create a conducive environment for work or study.

4. Emotional Healing

Sound therapy can facilitate emotional release and healing. It allows individuals to connect with their feelings, which can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with trauma or grief.

5. Pain Relief

Certain sound frequencies can help alleviate pain by promoting relaxation and reducing tension in the body. This approach can be particularly useful for chronic pain management.

6. Enhanced Meditation Practice

Incorporating sound therapy into meditation can deepen the experience. It makes it easier to achieve a state of mindfulness and inner peace.

7. Improved Mood

Listening to uplifting music or sounds can enhance mood and increase feelings of happiness and well-being. This can be beneficial in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

8. Increased Creativity

Sound therapy can stimulate creativity. It provides an inspiring auditory backdrop that encourages free thought and artistic expression.

9. Physical Healing

Some studies suggest that specific sound frequencies may promote healing at a cellular level. This could potentially aid in recovery from various physical ailments.

10. Community and Connection

Participating in group sound therapy sessions can foster a sense of community and connection among participants. This enhances social well-being.
