Online Addictions Counselling With Mark Franklin
Leeds residents in recovery from alcohol or substance misuse may be suffering during this time of uncertainty, with social distancing and a lack of SMART meetings, NA meetings and AA meetings available in Yorkshire.
COVID-19 brings huge barriers to those in Leeds who may be alcoholic or drug dependant. At Start Recovery my usual face to face drug and alcohol counselling services are now all moved to video consultations for the foreseeable future.
My video drug and alcohol counselling sessions are Skype, FaceTime, Zoom or WhatsApp depending on the clients preference. There are no differences to the format of my face to face sessions and clients can be assured of complete confidentiality.
With supermarket and off licence alcohol sales through the roof people are turning to drinking more indoors in their own homes which carries many problems and dangers, especially when there are children around who are out of school.
You may be struggling to cope with feelings of boredom, lack of control or choices. Alcohol or drugs may seem like a way to “get through it” or “deal with” the lockdown situation. Drugs and alcohol weakens the immune system which makes us more vulnerable to viruses and infection. WHO have produced a COVID-19 alcohol factsheet that dispels many myths around alcohol and COVID-19.
If you find yourself struggling with drug or alcohol problems during this time of isolation then get in touch and we can set up a video initial consultation. I am extremely busy at the moment but I will always endeavour to fit local Leeds residents in for an initial consultation within 1 week where possible.
If you know someone who is struggling, or a family member is having problems with drugs or alcohol during this time, then you can get in touch to set up an online drug or alcohol counselling session to discuss strategies. It may be difficult to persuade friends or family members to address their addiction problems but I am available to help families put a plan in place.
Leeds Rehab facilities may be closed at the moment and people may be struggling with alcohol or substances. Start Recovery can help advise individuals and families on the best way forward but the person who is struggling with addiction has to want to change their behaviours.
Please get in touch if you need any more information about drug and alcohol help in or you wanted to book an initial consultation for alcoholism or drug misuse.
